Sam Guthrie

Sam Guthrie is 18 years old and was born and raised in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand. He is one of New Zealand surfing’s rising stars, and a young man with a massive future. His results speak for themselves.

“I have been riding Mickey T’s boards since I can remember being able to hang a few toes through fat reform sections at the blow hole. As a grommet Mickey was making me the highest performance shape he could make without making it the weight and width of a short board. He has been a building block for my surfing career ever since.

With the progression of my surfing, the evolution of my boards has been just as important. The trusty board logbook Mickey keeps has taken a thrashing over the years from me with my um’ing and ah’ing. But quite honestly after all my inner indecision, I’ve eventually always gone with what Mickey recommends, using his knowledge and experience surfing the points of Raglan on a daily basis.
